One of our goals at FanFoc.us is to introduce some of the coolest new tools and technology to a wider audience. One technology we think is great but completely underused on the internet is Really Simple Syndication (RSS). Want to have new articles, videos (or almost any content from your favorite community) to popup like an email when they are posted in outlook (or the RSS reader of your choice)? Keep reading…
Here are some useful RSS feeds from your team’s community:
As you navigate around the site you will notice RSS buttons at the bottom of most of our pages. Some pages deliver content from the entire community or visit any fans profile and click on any of their RSS feeds to only receive alerts when that fan posts a new video or a new news article. We’ve built an almost infinite number of RSS feeds into FanFoc.us so you only get the content you want.
Here’s how to subscribe to your communities video RSS feed using Microsoft Outlook 2007:
- On the Outlook Tools menu, click Account Settings.
- On the RSS Feeds tab, click New.
- In the New RSS Feed dialog box, type or press CTRL+V to paste the URL of the RSS Feed.
- Click Add.
- Click OK.
Here’s how to subscribe to your communities video RSS feed using NewsGator’s FeedDemon for Windows (NewsGator provides lots of popular and free RSS tools – including similar tools for macs, mobile apps, etc)
- Install FeedDemon and create/configure a NewsGator account
- Subscribe -> New Subscription
- Give the wizard the url of to the feed you wish to consume and follow the steps
Once you are finished Outlook or FeedDemon will begin delivering the latest videos from your favorite FanFoc.us community to your computer just like email.
What if Outlook or FeedDemon don't suit your fancy? There are hundreds of other RSS readers available from plugins to firefox/internet explorer to widgets for your desktop to online services. Simply pick your favorite, click on one of our feeds and you’re on your way!
