TSL: 2010 Football Schedule Released

The ACC released its 2010 football schedule and I have to say I'm not thrilled.

  • Sep. 6 (Mon) vs. Boise State @ FedExField 8 PM ESPN
  • Sep. 11 James Madison (White out)
  • Sep. 18 East Carolina
  • Sep. 25 at Boston College
  • Oct. 2 at NC State
  • Oct. 9 Central Michigan
  • Oct. 16 Wake Forest
  • Oct. 23 Duke
  • Nov. 4 (Thurs) Georgia Tech 7:30 ESPN
  • Nov. 13 at North Carolina
  • Nov. 20 at Miami
  • Nov. 27 Virginia
  • Dec 4 ACC Championship Game

Pros:

  • The hokies will have to focus in the offseason to get ready for Boise - then have two pretty easy OOC opponents to prepare for ACC play. The hokies should be battle tested and ready for BC on Sept 25
  • 7 of the first 8 games are very winnable - if the hokies can beat Boise we should be ranked really high by November
  • The hokies have 11 days to prepare for GT and 9 to prepare for Miami
  • Only 4 true road games

Cons:

  • I hate the GT, Miami & UNC stretch - which bunches up our three hardest games (besides Boise) with two games on the road. This stretch will decide who wins the ACC Coastal and will make for some really entertaining football - but I'd rather at least one game fall earlier in the season
  • Opening with Boise - the VT staff has worked miracles before but I don't think there is anyway they will have the hokies ready to beat Boise in 7 months
  • Only one Thursday night game

What you say?

I agree with Rusty. We should handle Boise just because we have 7 months to prepare. I actually like moving this game to the first one of the season so we can be prepared. If we only had a week I would be more worried. They will be good but we should beat them. If we cannot then we should not even win the coastal. The only thing that bothers me is overlooking North Carolina. We will want Miami in Miami so I hope we do not overlook UNC. I am still weary of our defense but our offense should be top 25 just because of talent. We should make a run this year for sure if they do not screw it up.

you really don't think they will have us ready to beat Boise? comon we were beating national champ Bama into the 4th quarter, as long as we keep a 2 TD lead Boise's trademark trick plays won't matter, they only win by keeping the game close and they are not even close to the team Bama is, i'm still sticking by my opinion that they are seriously overratted, but thats a free jump into the Top 5 for us, I can't wait for VT to be the first team to beat Boise in over a year it's gonna be great

7 home games plus the Boise game at FedEx...not too bad. Good year to have season tix. Though a lot of the games look boring, ECU can be a good game as we've seen before, but who knows without Mush-Mouth's son. The GT game will be good too, especially with all the trash-talking from their crybaby coach this past year. And nothing beats a year-end Thanksgiving curb-stomping we give to UVA. Maybe I'll go this time.
